Tallinn Airport set to unveil new-look lounge
Having been given a complete makeover, Tallinn Airport’s lounge is set to re-open its doors on 4 April. The bigger and even more inviting space, now named the LHV Lounge, will be open to any and all travellers looking to relax in true comfort ahead of their flight.
Riivo Tuvike, the chairman of the management board of AS Tallinna Lennujaam, says the reconstruction of the lounge was prompted by growth in passenger numbers and guided by their needs. “A lounge has to be an attractive space for everyone, whether they’re travelling for business or pleasure, and whether they’re travelling on their own or with friends or family,” he said. “Everyone’s welcome to make use of our new-look space.” The LHV Lounge is bigger than its predecessor, accommodating up to 200 people. Furnished and fitted with everything its users will need, it will be a cosy space for guests and employees alike.
KAMP Arhitektid, who provided the interior design for the lounge, opted for materials from Estonian nature that are as pleasant to the touch as they are to the eye. “We’ve used treated home-grown timber, natural lime plaster and limestone itself from the ground beneath our feet throughout, bringing the outside world into the very heart of the airport,” explained partner and architect Jan Skolimowski.
Passengers wishing to relax and unwind can do so in the lounge for up to three hours before their flights. They will have meeting rooms and working nooks at their disposal, as well as large-screen TVs to keep themselves entertained. A fun, dedicated space has also been set aside for families with children. Like the lounge itself, the range of food it provides has been extended, with a light warm meal now being offered during the busy lunchtime hours alongside a selection of cold options. All food and drinks (alcoholic and otherwise) are included in the cost of accessing the lounge, which is the only place in the airport to have an outdoor terrace.
The LHV Lounge will be open from 4:30-22:00 every day. Access can be purchased on site at a cost of €45 per adult and €22 per child (ages 2-12). Admission is free of charge for children up to the age of 2.
Business class passengers flying with airBaltic, Finnair, LOT, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss and Aegean will enjoy free access to the lounge, while those with cards and vouchers issued by partner companies will be eligible for discounted rates.
