Weather impacting air traffic

Updated January 11 at 09.45 AM

Snowfall that began at noon on January 10 and quickly intensified has affected air traffic at Tallinn Airport. There have been both flight delays and cancellations. As the snow is likely to continue until Saturday evening, passengers should also be prepared for changes to their flight schedules on January 11.

Real-time flight information can be followed on the airport’s homepage, and in the event of changes to the flight schedule, the airline will notify passengers directly via SMS, email or its app.

Safety is always the top priority in aviation, which is why complex weather conditions affect airport operations and air traffic. Our runway maintenance team works 24/7 to keep the runway clean. However, heavy snowfall, gusty wind, and limited visibility affect air traffic.

Please note! The decision to land is made by the aircraft crew, with the safety of passengers and crew in mind. In addition, the crew’s flight hours and the type, age, and technical capacity of the aircraft are also taken into account. If the plane cannot land at the destination, the captain may return to the departure airport or the nearest alternate airport.
