Tallinn Airport sets new passenger number record in July
Tallinn Airport served a total of 343,500 passengers in July, breaking the record set in May 2024 (333,233) and becoming its busiest ever month. On average, more than 11,000 travellers passed through the airport each day.
“The figures for July were influenced by the summer holidays and the number of tickets on sale, which was 20% higher than in the same month last year,” explained member of the management board Eero Pärgmäe. “But growth in passenger numbers outstripped that, reaching 24%.”
Topping the rankings of direct-flight destinations were Stockholm, Riga and Helsinki, while the most popular charter flights were to resorts in Türkiye, Greece and Montenegro. There were 38 regular flights in July, which combined with charter operations gave travellers a choice of 44 direct-flight destinations. The largest carriers during the month were airBaltic (30%), Ryanair (22%) and Lufthansa (11%).
Compared to the same period last year, the number of flights operated in July rose by 16%. There were 4030 operations at Tallinn Airport during the month, of which 2922 were regular flights.
Pärgmäe says the passenger numbers for the first seven months of the year are outstanding. “Demand remains strong, and we hope people in Estonia extend their summer by flying to Europe in autumn,” he said. “Seasonal fare will soon be on the menus in restaurants in Northern Italy. Mediterranean destinations will offer late-summer warmth. Paris will be much quieter after the Olympics. Anyone who doesn’t have much time off can still enjoy a daytrip to Stockholm, since there are up to eight flights a day to the Swedish capital. And families who haven’t yet made it to Legoland in Billund can head there until the end of October.”
On 13 October, flydubai will be launching thrice-weekly direct flights to Dubai. “They’ll be the first regular flights between Estonia and the UAE, where guaranteed sun and hot weather are just a seven-hour flight away,” Pärgmäe added.
A total of 8546 passengers passed through Estonia’s regional airports in July: 4136 in Kuressaare, 2197 in Tartu (incl. 2021 on regular flights between Tartu and Helsinki), 2134 in Kärdla and 65 in Pärnu. The airstrip on Ruhnu served 14 travellers.
