Ryanair will continue flying to eight destinations from Tallinn during the summer season

Ryanair has decided to close seven routes from Tallinn from the end of March. Ryanair will continue to serve eight destinations from Tallinn: London, Milan, Stockholm, Barcelona, Vienna, Berlin, Rome and Venice Treviso.

“The closure of Ryanair’s routes will not have a significant impact on our connectivity to the world, as almost half of our passengers still fly via the major hubs of Helsinki, Riga, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Warsaw, and new carriers will come to serve the destinations with stronger demand,” explained member of the management board of Tallinn Airport Eero Pärgmäe.

Air Baltic flies to Paris, which is one of the routes that will be closed by Ryanair. In respect of the other routes (Billund, Dublin, Malta, Naples, Nuremberg and Paphos), Tallinn Airport is in negotiations with various airlines that might be interested in operating the routes that Ryanair will close.

“The rapid post-Covid of the aviation market is stabilising,” said Pärgmäe. “The reasons cited include the weakening performance of routes, rising costs and a shortage of aircraft, as both Boeing and Airbus are currently unable to supply airlines with the promised quantities of new planes.”

During the summer season, passengers can fly direct from Tallinn Airport to nearly 50 destinations with 15 different airlines. A number of new routes will also be added in summer, for example, SunExpress will launch scheduled flights to Antalya four times a well, Aegean will resume the twice-weekly direct flights to Athens from May and airBaltic will start flying to Split, Dubrovnik, Heraklion and Rhodes also in May, and it will increase the frequency of its flights to Paris, London, Berlin, Malaga and Nice.
