Flying from Tallinn Airport on 23–26 August? Please take note!

IRONMAN competitors will be heading home in large numbers from 23 to 25 August, bringing significantly more oversized baggage than usual through the airport—especially racing bikes. While around five bicycles normally travel through Tallinn Airport in an average summer week, nearly 800 bikes will need to be checked in over these few days. As bicycles cannot be checked in at Self Bag Drop, passengers should expect longer-than-usual queues at the check-in counters.

So, how can you start your journey stress-free during these busy days?

You can use Self Bag Drop when flying with the following airlines: airBaltic, Finnair, Heston, LOT, Lufthansa, Norwegian, SAS, Skystream, SWISS, Turkish Airlines and Valletta Airlines.

You can check in your baggage from 23 hours before departure. For Turkish Airlines, the service is available from 10 hours before departure.

Self Bag Drop is easy to use. Watch the video here.

Self-Service cannot be used in the following cases; please proceed to a staffed check-in desk:

  • Traveling with a stroller or if baggage is booked under an adult traveling with an infant
  • Traveling with sports equipment (e.g. bicycles, golf equipment)
  • Traveling with a musical instruments
  • Passenger’s with special needs

If you are travelling with hand baggage only, you can avoid the check-in queues altogether.

If you need to check in hold baggage at a check-in counter, please arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure.

A little extra time + smart check-in = a smooth start to your journey!
