Kärdla Airport is participating in the large-scale exercise ILVES

From 8 to 12 June 2026, the nationwide comprehensive national defence exercise ILVES will take place across Estonia, with Kärdla Airport also participating.

As part of the exercise, a training scenario will be conducted at Kärdla Airport on 10 June between 10:00 and 14:00. During this period, various emergency response units and equipment, including police and rescue services, may be seen at the airport. Drones may also be operating in the area, and smoke and fire effects will be used as part of the exercise. This is a controlled training exercise taking place between scheduled flights.

The exercise will not affect air traffic, and all flights will operate according to the regular schedule.

ILVES 2026 is a long-planned exercise, and its implementation does not indicate any immediate threat or increase in threat levels. Such exercises are a normal part of Estonia’s preparedness efforts and help strengthen our ability to respond effectively to various crises and security challenges.
