Tallinn Airport passenger numbers grew by 12 percent in April
In April, 313,000 passengers passed through Tallinn Airport, which is 12 percent more than a year earlier. The growth is mainly due to an increase in Wizz Air’s flight volumes. In April, Warsaw rose for the first time to become the destination with the highest passenger volume, surpassing the traditionally popular routes to Riga and Helsinki.
“The result for April clearly shows that demand for air travel remains strong. Among airlines, Wizz Air recorded the fastest growth, having flown from Tallinn only to London as recently as the middle of last year. At the end of last year, routes to Kraków, Venice, Budapest and Vilnius were added. This year, routes to Warsaw and Rome were added, Gdańsk will follow in early May, and from June Wizz Air will offer direct flights to Tirana,” said Eero Pärgmäe, Member of the Management Board of AS Tallinna Lennujaam.
In April, airBaltic opened a seasonal direct route to Athens and resumed summer flights to Rhodes, Palma de Mallorca and Nice. Wizz Air launched flights to Rome. Eurowings is also increasing capacity, having opened direct flights to Düsseldorf in addition to its Prague route, and airBaltic began flights to Vienna in March.
In April, 12 scheduled airlines operated from Tallinn to a total of 35 different destinations. The airlines offering the most destinations were airBaltic (20), Wizz Air (7) and Ryanair (6).
airBaltic remained the airline with the largest market share at 28 percent. Wizz Air rose to second place with 14 percent, followed by Ryanair with 11 percent, while SAS and Finnair each held an 8 percent market share.
In the charter segment, the Turkish holiday season began in April. Including charter flights, it was possible to fly directly from Tallinn to 39 destinations in April.
The number of flight operations grew by 4 percent compared with April 2025: a total of 3,634 flight operations took place in April, averaging 120 landings and take-offs per day.
Regional airports served 8,480 passengers in April. Tartu Airport handled 4,221 passengers, Kuressaare Airport 2,829 and Kärdla Airport 921. Ruhnu airfield served 311 passengers and Pärnu Airport 198.
Saaremaa will get a new air connection to Finland for the summer, as Finnair opens a seasonal route between Kuressaare and Helsinki from 8 June. This offers a convenient opportunity to fly from Kuressaare via Helsinki to destinations around the world, and from Helsinki conveniently to Saaremaa. Flights will operate three times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays – until 7 August 2026. The route will be operated by an ATR 72 aircraft with capacity for 70 passengers.
