Tallinn Airport awarded gold label in Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Index
Tallinn Airport has been awarded a gold label in the 2025 Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Index. The label represents the highest form of recognition in Estonia in the field of corporate responsibility, confirming that a company’s activities are well thought-through and directed towards sustainable development. Tallinn Airport has been taking part in this evaluation, overseen by the Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility Forum, since 2013.
Anneli Turkin, a member of the airport’s management board, says the index is a useful tool in analysing an organisation’s social responsibility in societal, economic and environmental terms, in looking back on what it has done and in celebrating its achievements. “We work every day to connect Estonia to the world, and each year we have to approach that in a smarter, greener and more sustainable way, making responsible behaviour and airport operations a natural part of how every one of our partners and employees goes about their work,” she explained. “We’ve come a long way together, and they deserve a lot of credit for the recognition it’s gained us.”
Turkin describes being awarded the label as an important milestone, as it means the work the airport does is being noticed and appreciated. “We’re proud to be a trailblazer and to set an example to others,” she said. “It’s important to us that sustainability principles are embedded not just in our strategy, but across all our operations and in everything we do, so I was delighted to see this highlighted as one of our greatest strengths. We also stood out for our transparency, in terms of both our achievements and our development. That’s one of our core values, and we consider it very important to follow it.”
Turkin adds that as delighted as they are, the airport team won’t be resting on their laurels, but looking to the future so that successful initiatives and new ideas drive the company further forward. “The results of the evaluation showed that we need to turn more attention to assessing the environmental impact of our projects and to boost our awareness of the social impact of what we do, so as to understand how we can positively contribute to the communities around us,” she said. “Tallinn Airport is committed to ensuring that its annual report for 2025 more clearly reflects its social and management objectives, as well as risks and metrics.”
