Passenger numbers at Tallinn Airport increased by 5% in February

In February, more than 227,300 passengers passed through Tallinn Airport, which is 5 percent more than a year earlier. The increase in passenger numbers was supported by new destinations added to the network, more frequent flight schedules, and the winter school holiday period.

The largest contribution to passenger growth came from the Copenhagen and Vilnius routes, where SAS and Wizz Air added flights. Recently introduced destinations such as Kraków, Budapest, Venice, and Funchal also had a significant impact. In February, a total of 14 airlines operated regular flights from Tallinn Airport, offering 31 direct destinations. airBaltic held the largest market share (28%), followed by Ryanair (12%), and SAS and Wizz Air (both 11%).

In February, 2,906 flight operations took place, averaging 104 landings and take-offs per day.

According to Eero Pärgmäe, Member of the Management Board of Tallinn Airport Ltd, the February results are encouraging. “The growth in passenger numbers shows that demand for air travel remains strong. We hope the positive trend will continue, as spring is already in the air across Europe and the route network will be expanded in the coming months with several new and long-awaited destinations,” said Pärgmäe.

At the end of March, direct flights to Hamburg and Vienna will be added to the route network, and it will soon be possible to fly to Warsaw with two airlines. At the end of April, flights to Athens, Rhodes, Nice, and Rome will be introduced.

In May, routes to Gdańsk and Düsseldorf will open, along with seasonal flights to Heraklion, Malta, and Prague. In June, new destinations Tirana, Billund, Burgas, Palma de Mallorca, and Split will be added.

Finnair will launch a seasonal route between Kuressaare and Helsinki starting in June.

In the regional airports, a total of 7,143 passengers were served in February. Tartu Airport handled 3,661 passengers, Kuressaare 2,335, and Kärdla 742. Exceptional ice conditions increased traffic at Kärdla Airport, bringing 27% more passengers. Ruhnu airfield served 234 passengers, and Pärnu Airport 171 passengers.
