Kärdla airport passenger terminal undergoing major renovation
Next week, reconstruction work will begin on the Kärdla Airport passenger terminal to improve the building’s energy efficiency, modernize its technical systems, and provide passengers with a more comfortable and contemporary environment.
During the renovation, the entire terminal will be insulated, electrical systems and lighting will be upgraded, and a new ventilation and climate control system will be installed. The interior design will also be refreshed, and the layout will be adjusted to ensure smoother movement and more pleasant waiting areas. The construction work will be carried out by Pihla Grupp OÜ.
“Kärdla Airport is extremely important for maintaining connections to Hiiumaa. We want it to be safe, modern, and comfortable for both passengers and staff,” said Katrin Hagel, Member of the Management Board of Tallinn Airport. “These upgrades will create better conditions for the airport’s daily operations and service delivery.”
The terminal renovation is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2026. During construction, a temporary terminal solution will be established so that regular flights can continue throughout the renovation period. “We ask all passengers for a bit of patience and understanding during the works. We’ll do everything we can to keep flights running smoothly, though some conveniences will inevitably be limited during this time,” Hagel added.
