Finnair will commence flight operations between Tartu and Helsinki on March 31st
According to the Mayor of Tartu, Urmas Klaas, the restoration of international air traffic is very important for the competitiveness of Tartu and Southern Estonia. “It was very important for us to get air traffic going in 2024, especially when Tartu is the European Capital of Culture. We also consider it important that the flight schedule offered suits both tourists and business travelers,” explained the mayor.
The Tartu-Helsinki flight route has a public service obligation for four years (until the end of 2027), and during this period, the route must be serviced based on a flight schedule that provides for 12 flights per week between Tartu and Helsinki and vice versa. Finnair will operate flights using a 72-seat ATR aircraft, which belongs to the subcontractor Nordic Regional Airlines OY (Norra).
